Lillian G. (Ritchey) Lauffer, age 86 of 39 Williamson Ave., Greencastle died Monday, April 12, 2010 in her home.

Born July 31, 1923 in Portage, PA she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Esther (Stombaugh) Ritchey.

She and her husband of 65 years, William D. Lauffer were married January 3, 1944 in Portage, PA. He died on November 9, 2009.

She was a woman of God, and was a member of the Chambersburg Christian Missionary Alliance Church where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years and was a youth group leader.

Mrs. Lauffer owned and operated the Shar-Lynn Beauty Salon for 45 years in Greencastle. During World War II she worked as a riveter in Philadelphia and later was a secretary for the Department of Defense in Washington D.C. Her family considered her the "world''s best grandmother." She enjoyed singing and welcoming others into her home.

Surviving family are six children, Sharon (Wife of David) Gray of Walkersville, MD, Linda (Wife of Christopher) Cardine of Detroit, MI, William (Husband of Lorraine) Lauffer Jr. of Red Bank, NJ, Dianne (Wife of Mitchell) Powell of Greencastle, PA, David (Husband of Merilyn) Lauffer of Colorado Springs, CO, and Timothy (Husband of Tammy) Lauffer of Greencastle, PA; brother, Rev. J. Clyde Ritchey of Toccoa, GA; sisters, Elda Billings of Portage, PA, Norma Hough of Cape Coral, FL, Violet Knotts of Altoona, PA and Mona Grimes of Gaithersburg, MD; nineteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 1:30 P.M. in the Chambersburg Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 230 Siloam Rd., Chambersburg, PA with Revs. J. Clyde Ritchey and Dennis Chisholm officiating. A luncheon will be served at 12:30 P.M. at the church. Private burial will be held in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Chambersburg Christian Missionary Alliance Church, c/o The Great Commission Fund, 230 Siloam Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the American Heart Association, 417 A Phoenix Dr., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
