Leslie A. Hykes, age 79 of 14891 Molly Pitcher Hwy. Greencastle, Pa. died at 7:16 P.M.Tuesday April 29, 2008 in the Falling Spring Nursing And Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg, Pa. where he has resided for the past five weeks.

Born July 2, 1928 in Antrim Twp. Franklin Co. Pa., he was the son of the late Jacob H. and Lydia R. (Egolf) Hykes.
He was a life long mechanic of farm machinery having worked at the former Melrose Farm Implements of Greencastle, Chambersburg Farm Service and at various other local farm implement dealers.

Mr. Hykes was a member of the Christian Life Assembly Of God Church of Chambersburg. He took continuing education classes with Penn State and served as a substitute teacher at the Franklin County Vo-Tech School in Chambersburg.

He and his wife, Ethel M. (Martin) Brubaker Hykes were married on March 26, 1978 in McConnellsburg, Pa.

Six sons, David E. Hykes, McConnellsburg, Pa., Mark W. Hykes, Waynesboro, Pa., J. Daniel Hykes, Zullinger, Pa., Benjamin L. Hykes, Shippensburg, Pa., Asa L. Hykes, Indiana, Pa. and Paul R. Hykes, Chambersburg, Pa.

Step-children, David E. Brubaker, McConnellsburg, Pa., Edward L. Brubaker, Chambersburg, Pa., Gary E. Brubaker, York, Pa., Jay A. Brubaker, Marion, Pa. and Esther Acres, St. Thomas, Pa.

Sisters, Jane M. Christophel, Chambersburg, Pa., Ivy M. Maynard, Williamson, Pa. and Linda G. Rotz, Greencastle, Pa.

10 Grandchildren 3 great-grandchildren 11 step-grandchildren

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother J. Owen Hykes and one grandson Jesse L. Hykes.

Funeral services will be held on Friday May 2 at 10:00 A.M. from the Christian Life Assembly Of God Church 1400 Warm Spring Rd. Chambersburg Pa. with Pastors Joe Pickens and Leroy Wiley officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, Pa. and at the church one hour before the service on Friday. Memorial contributions to help defray funeral expenses may be given to Ethel Hykes 14891 Molly Pitcher Hwy.
