Leroy M. Wingert

Leroy M. Wingert of Greencastle, PA passed away peacefully on Feb 24, 2022, at his home.  Born on January 6, 1938, in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Amos B. and Martha (Myers) Wingert.

Leroy was a member of the Antrim Brethren in Christ Church in Greencastle. He loved his Lord and his church and served as congregational song leader for 40 years.  His love of singing has inspired many to worship the Lord in song. He retired from the former Grove Manufacturing Company in 2000, after more than 38 years.  After retirement, he continued to work at Myers Implement Co and Mid America Hydraulics until 4 years ago. Leroy enjoyed gardening, woodworking, metallurgy, and designing. He generously shared crops from his garden and projects that he made (furniture and cabinets).

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Phoebe (Bouch) Wingert; three children: Denise Misner (husband David), Douglas Wingert (wife Ladina), and Dianne Campbell (husband Bruce); nine grandchildren, Michael Misner, Matthew Misner (wife Ashlee), Travis Benner (wife Whitney), Trent Benner (wife Holly), Treavor Benner, Tyler Campbell, Andrew Wingert, Rhetta Clevenger (husband David), and Zachary Wingert; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Elwood Wingert (Viola), Eber Wingert (Delores) Freda Wingert Bowers (Hershey). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Wingert.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022, at 1 PM at Antrim Brethren in Christ Church, 24 Kauffman Rd, Chambersburg, PA  17202, where Pastor Casey Hurst will officiate. The family will receive friends at the above church on Sunday, February 27, from 3-5 pm and Monday, February 28, from 12-1pm, with the service immediately following. Burial will be Wednesday, March 2, at 10 am in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA.
