Leroy Frank Mowen

LeRoy Frank Mowen Sr., age 69 of 13336 Worleytown Rd. Greencastle, Pa. died at 3:50 A.M. Saturday November 14, 2009 in his home.

Born November 1, 1940 in Antrim Twp. Franklin Co. Pa., he was the son of the late Marvin and Hazel (Gelsinger) Mowen.

In his earlier years he was a farmer. He then worked as a butcher for the former Acme Abattoir and Rice''s Meat Market both of Greeencastle and last worked at Horst Meats of Maugansville.

He and his wife, Patricia M. "Pat" (Carbaugh) Mowen were married September 23, 1961 in Hagerstown.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and watching sports.

Surviving family in addition to his wife are two sons LeRoy Mowen Jr. of Mercersburg, Daniel W. Mowen, Greencastle, a daughter, Heide Buchanan, Greencastle, three brothers Jack Mowen, Fayetteville, Glenn Harry Mowen, Ft. Loudon, Pa., Clifford Mowen, Greencastle, two sisters Patricia Wolff, St. Thomas, Pa., Nancy Helman Upper Strasburg, Pa. and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by sisters Joan Oberholzer, Lois Stine. Darlene Gaston and a brother George Mowen.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 18 at 11:00 A.M. from the Macedonia United Brethren Church 11887 Worleytown Rd. Greencastle with Pastor Gayle Ruble Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle on Tuesday from 6 - 8 P.M. and at the church one hour before the service on Wednesday.
