Laurier W. N. DuBois, age 93, of Boca Raton, FL, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023, at Delay Medical Center, Delay Beach, FL. Born in Lewiston, ME on October 18, 1929, he was the son of Wilfrid Philipe and Marie Jeanne Bolduc DuBois.
Mr. DuBois served honorably in the United States Marine corps for 30 years, retiring in 1976 as a Master Gunnery Sergeant, serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He continued his service to the country working as Operations Director at Quantico for 10 years, retiring again in 1986. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he was a 4th Degree Knight. He also earned three Associates degrees and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA. Mr. DuBois loved taking care of and spending time with his wife; Patricia, who he affectionately called Patsy and their six children and would often take the entire family camping at the beach. Mr. DuBois was very creative and talented at designing and building gorgeous park worthy landscape and hardscape designs. He also enjoyed traveling, spending time with his siblings singing French songs and said his nightly prayers in half French and half in English and asked blessings by naming each family member.
Surviving are his six children, Dutch DuBois of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Ed DuBois (wife Barb) of Poulsbo, WA, Barry DuBois (wife Sue) of Carmel, IN, Patricia DuBois-Harding (partner Gary Duckworth) of Fredericksburg, VA, Annette DuBois of Fredericksburg, VA and Michelle DuBois (husband Patrick Gallagher) of Haymarket, VA; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and sibling brother, Richard DuBois (wife Geri) of Santee, CA, sister Jeannine DuBois-Harris of Orville, CA and sister-in-law; Shirley Shatzer of Greencastle, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his soulmate, Patricia Lowans DuBois in 2019, whom he married on February 13, 1951.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 9 AM at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 385 S. Ridge Ave., Greencastle, PA 17225, where Rev. Fr. Walter Guzman will celebrate. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 1-3 and 5-7 pm at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA 17225. Interment will follow the Mass in Cedar Hill Cemetery, with military honors provided by the VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard.
