Larry Ronald Shindle, age 73 of Menno Village Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Greencastle died at 1:30 AM Friday, September 27, 2013 in the Chambersburg Hospital. He had been critically ill the last week.

Born August 15, 1940 in Greencastle, PA, he was the son of the late Howard Edgar and Margaret Louise (Hykes) Shindle.

Larry married Donna M. (Leckron) on August 23, 1980 in State Line, PA. He retired in 1993 from the Frick Company of Waynesboro after 34 ½ years employment.

He was a member of the Otterbein United Brethren Church of Greencastle and served as church organist for 4 years and was a life member of the Rescue Hose Co. # 1 of Greencastle.

Larry was a member of the former Trinity United Brethren Church of State Line where he served as the organist for 42 years.

Larry graduated in 1958 from Greencastle High School and was a veteran of the US Army Reserves. He enjoyed gardening and reading.

Surviving family in addition to his wife are one daughter Beth A. Knoll and husband Christopher of Shady Grove, PA, one son Troy H. Shindle of Chambersburg and one granddaughter Sophie Knoll.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 1 at 11:00 AM from the Otterbein United Brethren Church 146 Leitersburg St. Greencastle with Rev. David Rawley officiating. Interment will follow in the Beautiful View Cemetery State Line. The family will receive friends at the church  on Tuesday from 10:00 AM  – 11:00 AM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Otterbein United Brethren Church Building Fund 146 Leitersburg St. Greencastle, PA 17225. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle. Online condolences may be given to the family at www.zimmermanfh.com
