Larry Douglas Pike

Larry Douglas Pike, age 76, of Greencastle PA passed away at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD on Monday, September 30, 2024. Born March 8, 1948, in Greencastle, PA he was the son of the late Daniel Obern and Margaret Louise Overcash Pike. 

A 1966 graduate of the Greencastle-Antrim Senior High School, Larry was a lifetime resident of Greencastle and loved being a part of the community. Larry was an avid train hobbyist; however he also enjoyed his Dallas Cowboys Football and NASCAR. He collected football and baseball trading cards and built train models in his free time. Larry worked at Grove (Manitowoc) where he retired after 30 years. After his retirement he went to work at Sunnyway for 14 years until retirement in 2005. 

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Dorothy Ann Pike, whom he married September 1, 1973. They had a beautiful marriage and Larry was an absolutely devoted and loving husband. Dottie was his entire world. Larry is also survived by his children, Rebecca Pike, Kimmie Landry of Carson City, NV, and Katherine Hadley of Greencastle PA; his grandchildren, Aleisa and wife Krista Mock and their children, John and Jenna; a brother, Rod Roland and his wife Dodie of Branson Missouri; and several friends and family, Baranda Dixon of Greencastle, PA, Mary Miller of Greencastle, PA, and Jerome Godbold of Greencastle, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Uncle Charles and Aunt Cookie Overcash of Chambersburg PA.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 7 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org or to the Rescue Hose Co. No. 1, Ambulance Co., 842 S.
