Larry Richard Bowers

Larry R. Bowers, 80, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born May 12, 1943 in Nova, PA, he was a son of the late Viola Bowers.

Larry served honorably in the US Army. Dedicated to his trade, he was a self-employed builder/contractor and laid brick and block in the Hagerstown and Greencastle area for many years. He made many friends through his work and enjoyed spending time and conversing with them whenever he could. He also enjoyed hunting, riding four-wheelers and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Carol A. Connor Bowers, whom he married on May 18, 1996; three children, Michael Bowers (Lisa) of Greencastle, Tracy L. Zinaich (John) of Boonsboro, MD, and Curtis W. Bowers of Chambersburg; two step-children, John Scott Thomas (Misty) of Keyser, WV, and Kelly Ann Stanislawczyk (Jay) of Keyser, WV; seven grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. Aside from his mother, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Hoover.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at the Maugansville Bible Brethren Church, 17904 Binkley Avenue, Maugansville, MD 21767. Pastor Chad Carter will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Tuesday at the church.
