Leah Lucille Jakoby, age 92 a resident of the Falling Spring Nursing And Rehabilitation Center Chambersburg and formerly of 141 North Carlisle St. Greencastle died Saturday evening December 19, 2009 in the nursing home.
Born Decmber 19, 1917 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Hiram Perry and Ella Grace (Ward) Eisenberger.
She was a homemaker and in her earlier years she worked at the former Stanley Co and Greencastle Shoe Factory.
She served as a crossing guard for the Greencastle-Antrim School District and enjoyed cooking.
Lucille was a member of the St. Mark Catholic Church of Greencastle and a former member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. She was a 1936 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
She and her husband, Edward N. Jakoby were married November 25, 1937. He died on March 8, 2007.
Surviving family are two daughters Phyllis Y. Miller and Christine M. Layman, both of Greencastle, son Ronald Jakoby, Hagerstown, Md., 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Carole Jakoby in 1968 and 7 sisters and 2 brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday December 23 at 2:00 P.M. from the St. Mark Catholic Church 395 S. Ridge Ave. Greencastle with Father Daniel Menniti officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle this evening from 6 - 8 P.M.
