Kenneth Carl Statler, age 93 of 217 South Washington St. Greencastle, Pa. died at 1:45 A.M. Wednesday, December 31, 2008 in the emergency room of the Waynesboro Hospital.

Born October 16, 1915 in St. Thomas Twp. Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Clarence W. and Ethel Pearl (Brindle) Statler.

He retired from the Landis Tool Co. of Waynesboro and had also worked at the former Chambersburg Implement Co.
Mr. Statler was a 1935 graduate of Greencastle High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II having served on the USS Under Hill and USS Fillmore in the European and Pacific theatres. He also received the purple heart.

Mr. Statler was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle, life member of the Rescue Hose Co. #1, life member of the Mount Pisgah Lodge #443 F. & A.M. of Greencastle and was a member of the Greencastle Senior Mens Club.

He also was a life member of the Harry D. Ziegler V.F.W. Post #6319, where he served as the Posts'' second commander.

He and his wife, Dorothy E. (Crunkleton) Statler were married May 1, 1937 in Lemasters, Pa.

Surviving family in addition to his wife of 71 years are: sister, Gladys Barnes, Menno Haven, Chambersburg, Pa. step-brother, Harold Overcash, Penn Hall, Chambersburg, Pa. sister-in-law, Helen Talhelm Statler, The Inn at Luther Ridge, Chambersburg, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Glen Statler.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3rd at 2:00 P.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle with Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours before the service on Saturday. The Greencastle V.F.W. will hold a memorial service at 1:00 P.M. and the Mount Pisgah Lodge will hold a memorial service at 1:30 P.M., both on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle, Pa. 17225.
