Kenneth R. Oberholzer, age 78, of Greencastle, PA, passed away at his home peacefully in his sleep, in the early morning hours of Friday, April 22, 2022. Born June 19, 1943, in Greencastle, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond Charles and Anna Elizabeth Grosh Oberholzer.
Ken worked for Valley Proteins for 35 years, retiring on August 1, 2014, as Head of Maintenance. A “Jack of All Trades” he could work on and fix just about anything. He was a dedicated man who was a farmer in his early life, resulting in a lifelong enjoyment of anything John Deere. Ken was an avid puzzler and enjoyed completing them with his family. Other passions included woodworking, gardening, birdwatching in his back yard and spending time with his dog, Daisy.
Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Thomas of Greencastle, PA and Peggy Sturm and husband Roger Colosimo of South Lyon, MI, five grandchildren, Kari Oberholzer, Austin Sturm, Nathan Sturm, Tyfani Thomas, and Ryan Thomas; four great-grandchildren, Kyle Todd, Kole Snyder, Kenny Snyder, Caroline Wood; and four sisters, Martha Beeler (Leroy) of Chambersburg, PA, Romaine Yantosik (George) of Hummelstown, PA, Mary Means (John) of Hagerstown, MD, and Donna Weikert (Robert) of Fairfield, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Delta Oberholzer on December 23, 2020, whom he married on March 27, 1964 and three brothers, R. Brondell, Zane, and Max Oberholzer.
The family will be honoring both Ken and Delta on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 11 AM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook will officiate. Friends will be received for viewing for Ken and visitation for Delta on Friday, April 29, 2022, from 5-8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be private, at the convenience of the family, in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in both their names to the American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Dr., suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
