Kendall Lee Hammond

Mr. Kendall Lee Hammond, 61, of Greencastle, died late Sunday morning, August 12, 2012, at his residence. He was the husband of Mrs. Diane Elizabeth Hellman Hammond, his wife of 30 years.

Born September 9, 1950, in Presque Isle, Maine, he was a son of the late Ernest Wetmore Hammond and Lillias Arlene Briggs Boykin.

He was a United States Army Veteran.

For many years Mr. Hammond worked as an Auto Body Mechanic for several Chambersburg area businesses and was employed with Ingersoll-Rand and Grove Manufacturing; but for the last ten years operated Handyman Hammond Service, Greencastle.

He had formerly attended Bethel and Valley Assembly of God Churches, Hagerstown, and was currently attending New Life Christian Ministries, also of Hagerstown. Over the years he participated with Missions to the Dominican Republic to build churches and to Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina to assist with rebuilding efforts.

Besides his wife, Mr. Hammond is survived by a daughter Kendi Norton and husband Charles of Soco, Maine; granddaughters, Charley and Rylee; siblings, Caroline A. Dyer and husband Reginald of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, Rhonda L. Russell and husband Theodore of Bucksport, Maine, and Leah M. MacDonald and fiancee Jeffery Jandreau, and Stephen W. Hammond and wife Tina, all of Ashland, Maine; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas E. Hammond.

The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, Wednesday, August 15, from 3:00 to 4:00 PM. A Memorial Service will begin at the funeral home at 4:00 PM. His pastor, Rev. Kenneth R. Harris of New Life Christian Ministries, will officiate. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
