Kathryn K. Horsfall

Kathryn K. Horsfall, age 88 a resident of Penn Hall Nursing Center, Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Lemar Rd., Lemasters, PA died at 10:19 P.M. on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in the nursing center.

Born, March 8, 1922 in Vaucluse, Frederick County, VA she was the daughter of the late Everett D. and Mamie E. (Cornwell) Kline. She was the wife of the late John B. Horsfall, who died on November 7, 1991.

Mrs. Horsfall was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Upper West Conococheague, Mercersburg, PA and was elected an elder in 1990. She was a graduate with the John Handley High School Class of 1940 in Winchester, VA.

Volunteer work was high on her list of priorities, whether it was in the private sector or as a military dependent. In her earlier years, Mrs. Horsfall served as President of the Mercersburg American Field Service Chapter, where along with her husband had served as host parents for several exchange students. Previously, she was an assistant manager of the Franklin County Fair. She was a member of the Lemasters Homemakers and Mercersburg Women''s Club.

Surviving family is one brother Everett H. Kline of Manassas, VA; goddaughter, Kathi Woods of Walnut Grove, CA; several nieces and nephews and a special exchange student, Katrien Couvreur of Belgium. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred L. Harris and Marie Schleisner-Meyer.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, January 17, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. from the Rosedale Cemetery, 917 Cemetery Rd., Martinsburg, WV with the Rev. Anthony D. Lorenz officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Presbyterian Church of the Upper West Conococheague, 34 W. Seminary St., Mercersburg, PA 17236. Arrangements are being handled by the Harold M.
