Karl Otto Flemming, age 85, a resident of the Heritage Hills Retirement Home Greencastle and formerly of East Grant St. Greencastle died at 3:50 PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born June 7, 1931 in Konigsberg, Germany, he was the son of the late Albert Otto and Anna Maria (Helmdorf) Flemming. His wife Beatrice E. (Yerdon) Flemming died on November 7, 2009.
Karl was employed as a maintenance foreman at Sandoz Pharmaceutical Co. in New Jersey. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Greencastle. Karl was a blacksmith and enjoyed performing demonstrations at the local schools and for the community.
Karl attended the Greencastle Senior Center. He was a handyman and could build just about anything from metal and wood. He was a devoted Christian man who dearly loved his wife and daughter.
Surviving family are his daughter Lori A. Ferrante and husband Jack of San Jose, CA, three grandsons, Kevin, Jake, Samuel, three sisters, Ruth, Hildegard, Waltraud, one brother, Gerhard and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 1 at 2:00 PM at the First Assembly of God Church 525 East Leitersburg St. Greencastle with Pastor Greg Sinclair officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Hills Retirement Home 2256 Shanks Church Rd. Greencastle, PA 17225. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M.
