Junior G. Starr, age 86 a resident of the Falling Spring Nursing And Rehabilitation Center Chambersburg for the past 4 � years and formerly of Williamson Rd. Greencastle died at 2:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 in the nursing center.
Born June 4, 1926 in Mercersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Ferris Gilbert and Nellie Mae (Timmons) Starr. His wife Pauline Elizabeth (Clever) Starr preceded him in death on January 12, 2011.
Junior was employed at Manitowoc Crane (Grove Worldwide) in Shady Grove having retired in 1987. He was a member of the Maple Grove Church of God of Mercersburg. Junior enjoyed farming, hunting and was a social member of the Frank L. Carbaugh Post #373 American Legion of Greencastle.
Surviving family are three daughters, Phyllis Baker of Clear Spring, MD, Vanessa Neely of Middletown, PA and Debbie Barnhart of Greencastle, four sons, Dolan Starr of Greencastle, Donald Starr of State Line, Marvin Starr and Travis Starr both of Williamsport, MD, one sister Rebecca Gordon of Mercersburg, two brothers Roy Starr of Chambersburg, Merle Starr of Upton, ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, Myron and Daniel Starr, a sister Ruth Delauder, two brothers Joseph Thomas Starr, John Starr, half-sister Catherine Starr and two half-brothers Barton and Scott Starr.
Funeral services will be held on Monday April 15 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle with Rev. Gene Renner officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Lutheran Home Care And Hospice 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.
