June Elizabeth (Horst) Swope, age 89 a resident of Providence Place of Chambersburg and formerly of Greencastle, PA died at 12:35 P.M. Wednesday July 17, 2013 in the emergency room of the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born October 27, 1923 in Marion, PA, she was the daughter of the late David Leslie and Maggie (Wentling) Horst. She and her husband Thomas R. Swope were married August 5, 1944. He died on December 4, 1999.
She was homemaker and in her earlier years worked at the former Stanley Co. of Chambersburg.
June was a member for over 60 years of the Greencastle Presbyterian Church where she sang on the church choir and was benevolent treasurer of the church for many years.

She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of Mt. Vernon Eastern Star Chapter #398 of Waynesboro, member of the Greencastle-Antrim Loyal Daughters and former board member of the Antietam Humane Society of Waynesboro. June was a 1941 graduate of the former St. Thomas High School.

Surviving family are one daughter Barbara A. Sellers Kuhn and son-in-law Glenn of Fayetteville, PA, one son Vaughn L. Swope and daughter-in-law Jan of Kingwood, Texas, three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Marvin H. Horst.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 20 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Chaplains John Rauch and John Ile officiating. Burial will be in the Norland Cemetery in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Antietam Humane Society 8513 Lyons Rd. Waynesboro, PA 17268.
