Joseph J. “Joe” Shultz Jr., age 90 of Homestead Dr. Greencastle died at 12:30 AM Thursday, October 27, 2016 in the Falling Spring Nursing And Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg where he resided for the past three weeks.
Born July 26, 1926 in Greencastle, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph P. and Clara (College) Shultz. He married his wife Doris A. (Shindle) Shultz on June 12, 1947.Joe retired from the former Corning Glass Works of Greencastle where he worked in Quality Control. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1943-45.
Joe was a member of the Greencastle Presbyterian Church. He and his wife wintered in North Fort Myers Florida for 13 years. He enjoyed golfing and watching car racing. Surviving family in addition to his wife are two daughters, Donna J. Grosh and husband Richard of Mercersburg, Cheree E. Stine and husband Terry of Greencastle, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Matthew Joseph Grosh in 1974 and two sisters, Lorraine Lenharr and Delores Clary.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 31 at 11:00 AM at the Greencastle Presbyterian Church 57 West Baltimore St. Greencastle with Rev. Doug Beltzner officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Greencastle Presbyterian Church Capital Campaign Fund 57 West Baltimore St. Greencastle, PA 17225 or to SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care and Hospice 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, PA 17202.
