Joseph R. Hayden

Joseph R. Hayden, age 92 a resident of the Golden Living Center of Hagerstown, MD and formerly of 12676 Molly Pitcher Hwy. Greencastle, PA died Saturday morning December 24, 2011 in the nursing center.

Born November 25, 1919 in Fayette County, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Florence (Heater) Hayden. Joe had been a heavy equipment operator and last worked at Grove Worldwide in Shady Grove as superintendent of plant engineering.

He was a member of the Greencastle Presbyterian Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the European and Pacific Theatres. Joe graduated from George''s Township High School in Fayette County, PA.

He married Mary Louise (Weaver) Hayden on September 28, 1948. She died on September 30, 2003.

Surviving family are two nephews and one niece.

A graveside service will be held on Friday December 30 at 12 Noon from the McClellandtown Presbyterian Church (Church Hill) Cemetery in McClellandtown, PA with David McElroy officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA.
