Joretta G. Wise

Joretta G. Wise, age 93 of Waynesboro, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Chambersburg Hospital and now she is rejoicing in his presence. Born February 4, 1931, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Leroy and Esther Ruth Henry Helman, Sr.

Joretta enjoyed life and numerous things in her life. She loved being with her family and helping others. She was faithful to her church and to the Lord. Joretta had a passion for her cats, mowing grass, and the great outdoors. She loved to hunt and fish and certainly lived life to the fullest. Joretta started working on the farm with her Dad at a very young age, plowing fields by horse and milking cows at different farms. In her later years, Joretta worked at the shoe factory, the former Stanley Company, and other clothing factories. One of her favorite past times was word search books.

Joretta is survived by seven siblings, Evelyn Oakes, Ronald Helman, Leonard Helman, Sr., Elwood Helman (wife Janet), Melzina Dice, Pauline Seibert (husband Fred), and Alma Walter (husband Bob) and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 1 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor John Pogue will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Falling Spring Reformed Mennonite Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA.
