John H. Wingert, age 75 of Marion, PA died at 10:03 A.M. Thursday, September 19, 2013 in the Chambersburg Hospital. He had been in declining health the past two months.

Born March 14, 1938 in Shady Grove, PA, he was the son of the late Glen Price and Marguerite (Helmuth) Wingert.
John married Helen S. (Sheller) Wingert on July 3, 1971 in Marion.
He was employed for 31 1/2 years at Washington County Hospital of Hagerstown as a medical technologist.

John was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church of Chambersburg where he sang on the church choir. He was a former member of the Fourth Street Church Of The Brethren also of Chambersburg where he played the organ. He served as organist for the Heidelberg Church in Marion for a number of years. John was a member of the American Guild of Organist and had served as its treasurer.

He was a life member of the Marion Volunteer Fire Co. and had served on the Marion Fire Co. Relief Association. John was a 1956 graduate of Greencastle High School and received his BS degree from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA in 1960.

Surviving family in addition to his wife of 42 years are one nephew Michael P. Minotti and wife Melissa of Greencastle and one niece Candace S. Minotti of Greencastle.

In addition his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Pauline F. "Polly" Minotti who died on November 19, 2001.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 25 at 11:00 A.M. from the Central Presbyterian Church 40 Lincoln Way West Chambersburg with Rev. Scott Bowerman officiating. Burial will be in the Norland Cemetery in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Central Presbyterian Church 40 Lincoln Way West Chambersburg, PA 17201.
