John Eugene Stouffer

Mr. John Eugene Stouffer, 76, of Waynesboro, died Thursday evening, February 23, 2012, at Waynesboro Hospital. He was the husband of Mrs. Lorraine Yeager Stouffer, his wife of 43 years.

Born February 13, 1936, in Greencastle, he was a son of the late John Edward and Mabel Edith Beeler Stouffer.

From 1972-1999, Mr. Stouffer worked for Grove Manufacturing, Shady Grove. Formerly, he farmed and worked with Greencastle Livestock Auction and Franklin Feed Store.

He was a member of Hades Church of the Brethren.

Mr. Stouffer was an avid toy collector. After retirement, he enjoyed attending local auctions and estate sales, as well as yard sales.

Surviving besides his wife are children, Suzanne M. Stuller and husband Michael of Greencastle, Lucinda K. Swope of Waynesboro, and Stacie J. Stouffer of Frederick; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; as well as siblings Darlene J. Stouffer of Greencastle, and Clarence D. Stouffer and wife Darlene K. of Mercersburg; sister-in-law E. Faye Stouffer of Greencastle; and several aunts and uncle, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, J. Ernest Stouffer in 1992; and siblings Merle R. Stouffer and June M. Bavinchack.

Friends may call at Harold M. Zimmerman Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, Monday, February 27 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be from his church, Hades Church of the Brethren, Hades Church Road, Waynesboro, Tuesday, February 28, at 11:00 AM. Brothers Dean Gearhart and George Martin will officiate. Interment will be in Air Hill Brethren In Christ Church Cemetery, Chambersburg.
