John Thomas Ignatius Shook, age 45 of 211 Lincoln Way East McConnellsburg, Pa. and formerly of Grant Shook Rd. Greencastle, Pa. died unexpectedly on Saturday October 31, 2009 in his home.
Born June 12, 1964 in Waynesboro, Pa. he was the son of J. Thomas and Helen I. (Haines) Shook of Greencastle.
He was self-employed as an antique dealer operating Fulton Antiques in McConnellsburg. John was a 1982 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School. He attended college in Charleston S.C. and was previously enrolled at the Johnson & Wales Culinary School.
He was a member of the St. Stephen Catholic Church of McConnellsburg. He was a member of the Narrows Gun Club of McConnellsburg . John enjoyed being around horses and other animals.
Surviving family in addition to his parents are seven sisters, Wanda K. Koons, Greencastle, Patricia A. Bivens, Mercersburg, Sharon L. Rowe, Conway South Carolina, Susan C. Armstrong, Riverview, Florida, Catherine M. Eaton, Conifer, Colorado, Sarah Ellen Freeman, Greencastle and Joy I. Appleby, Vienna, Virginia, thirteen nieces and nephews and six grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday November 5 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Joseph Nale officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to St. Stephen Catholic Church, 303 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg, Pa. 17233.
