John E. Osbaugh

John E. Osbaugh, age 90 of Greencastle, PA died at 7:54 PM Sunday, August 23, 2015 in the Quincy Village Nursing Center. He had been in declining health for the past six months.

Born October 26, 1924 in St. Thomas Twp., Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late Harry and Catherine (Comerer)) Osbaugh. He married Helen E. (Overcash) Osbaugh on March 20, 1948.
In his younger years, John hauled milk, worked at the former Maun’s Garage in Lemasters and then he retired from Mack Trucks of Hagerstown. He graduated from the St. Thomas High School and was a US Navy Veteran of World War II.
John was a member of the Macedonia United Brethren Church near Greencastle, member of the Greencastle American Legion, and a member of the UAW Local 171 of Hagerstown.

He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving family in addition to his wife of over 67 years are one son J. Edward Osbaugh Jr. and wife Nancy of Greencastle, two daughters, Jeanne D. Brown and husband Richard of Milton, PA, Lu Ann Riordan and husband Barry of Chambersburg, one brother Harry Osbaugh Jr. and wife Ruth of Newburg, PA, six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Vicki Lynn Osbaugh who died in 1976 and one brother William Osbaugh.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 27 at 11:00 AM from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Revs. Milton Herrold Jr. and Gayle Ruble Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Macedonia United Brethren Church 11887 Worleytown Rd. Greencastle, PA 17225.
