John Timothy "Tim" O'Leary, age 76 years of Greencastle, Pennsylvania died on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the Chambersburg Hospital following prolonged suffering and a recent traumatic fall. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Marie Rose (Jorkasky) O’Leary who passed away 16 years ago and he has now joined her in Heaven. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Paul Francis and Mary Josephine (Hanley) O’Leary formerly of Altoona, Pennsylvania.
Tim was a devoted Roman Catholic and member of Saint Mark’s Catholic Church in Greencastle, Pennsylvania. Born in Altoona, PA, he and Marie made a home in Greencastle for over 50 years. He leaves behind his son, Dennis “Denny” with his dog, Ruby. He also leaves behind his faithful daughter, Beth Ann (McRoberts) and her husband, Billy and their son Seth Ryan, along with his oldest grandson, Bryan Michael. The world is a sadder place without their father with them, but they know he is at peace and no longer in pain.
Tim was a 1958 graduate of Altoona High School and furthered his studies as an electrician at Hagerstown Community College while working at Mack Trucks in Hagerstown. He retired there after 40-plus years of service to Mack Trucks and leaves behind many friends from that very special place and time in his life.
Tim will be very, very missed by his brother Paul and wife Mary, sister Patricia and husband Gary, and most sincerely by his sister Mary Elizabeth and her husband, Tom. His sisters by law, Dorothy Sagaities and Phyllis Maniglia and husband Tony, are mourning this loss as well. In addition, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren and many dear friends whose lives he has touched are saddened by this loss. He is joining his dear godson and nephew, Billy Sagaities, in heaven.
During his life, Tim was above all else a patriot and through his adventurous life, he was an avid marathoner, a devoted golf enthusiast, national park traveler and hiker, bee-keeper, keen bird-watcher, dual citizen of his ancestral home in Ireland and an excellent joke-teller.
