Mr. John Frederick Masser, 67, formerly of Greencastle, and more recently a resident of Providence Place, Chambersburg, died Monday evening, December 2, at Chambersburg Hospital. Born August 3, 1946, in New Jersey, he was the son of the late Harry F. and Iva E. I. Coukell Masser. He was fondly known to many as “Johnny.” He moved with his parents to Greencastle from High Bridge, New Jersey; and graduated Greencastle-Antrim High School.
Johnny worked for several years for Hicks Chevrolet-Volvo, Greencastle. Johnny was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Greencastle. One of his favorite pastimes was swimming. Johnny will be fondly remembered by several cousins including Dorothy Nagie of New Jersey and her family; as well as his extended family.
Friends may visit the Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, on Friday, December 6, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. The funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 1:00 PM with Chaplain John A. Ile of Providence Place officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Johnny’s name to his church, Grace United Church of Christ, 128 East Baltimore Street, Greencastle, Pennsylvania 17225.
