John M. Kesler, age 79 of Chambersburg, PA passed away peacefully at 4:40 AM Friday November 11, 2016 in the Falling Spring Nursing And Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg.
Born October 12, 1937 in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late John Thomas Kesler and Charlotte L. (Marvin) Kesler Long. He married his wife Marieann (Zitrick) Kesler in 1987.
John retired after 28 years employment with the former GTE Telephone Corporation, Charlestown, WV office.He graduated in 1957 from Fort Hill Maryland High School and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. John enjoyed bowling in the GTE Bowling League, loved gardening, cooking, all types of animals and was a very avid Washington Redskin fan for many years. He had attended the Trinity Episcopal Church and was a member of the Moose Lodge, both of Charlestown.
Surviving family in addition to his wife are one son Robert J. Kesler and wife Annette of Plant City, FL, two grandchildren, Courtney and Steven, one great-grandson Aiden, one step-son, Arthur W. Chenoweth and wife Jenny of Chambersburg, PA, two step –grandsons, Paul & Ajay Chenoweth, two step-granddaughters, Gerri Pantiga and husband Eddy, and Robyn Linebaugh and companion Jason Minnich, and lastly, nine step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday November 16 at 6:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA with Chaplain Jacqueline Cook officiating. There will be no viewing. The family requests the omission of flowers and memorial contributions may be given to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter 5051 Letterkenny Rd. West Chambersburg, PA 17201.
