J. Keith Leckron, 70, of Greencastle, PA, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at the Menno Haven Rehabilitation Center. Born December 10, 1951 in Waynesboro, he was a son of the late Roy and Ada Brechbiel Leckron. Keith was a 1971 graduate of the Waynesboro Area Senior High School. He worked as a cable splicer in his early years and then as an electrician for Foremost Industries for 15 years. He then worked for 30 years as an over-the-road truck driver for Roadway Express, where he was a proud member of Teamsters #992. He loved working with his hands and could fix anything. He especially loved working on tractors, large and small. Keith was an active member of Otterbein United Brethren Church in Greencastle where he served on the Property Committee. He was a member of the G.R.I.D. Tractor Club, Twin Bridges Tractor Club, and Waynesboro Fish and Game Association. He enjoyed hunting and playing the Dobro; helping others; and especially spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, LuCinda “Cindy” McCarney Leckron. Married on December 23, 1972, they were looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Also surviving are his daughter, Niki Kauffman and husband Rob; grandchildren Abby Lawrence and husband Aaron, Will Kauffman and wife Paige, Andrew Kauffman; and Caleb Kauffman; and his great-granddaughter, Adalynn Lawrence; four siblings, Cynthia Brant and husband Les, Joel Leckron and wife Beth, Leslie Leckron and wife Nancy, and Katie Stevens and husband Danny; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Mac and LaFerren McCarney and a daughter, Melissa Brooke Leckron.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Otterbein United Brethren Church, Greencastle, PA. A service to celebrate Keith’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 25, 2022 at the church. Rev. David Rawley will officiate. Interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery will be private.
