Jerry L. Smith, age 73, of Greencastle, PA, passed away at his home on Monday, May 10, 2021, with his family by his side. Born February 12, 1948, in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late James J. and Thelma Reeder Smith.

A 1966 graduate of the Greencastle-Antrim High School, Jerry furthered his education at WVU, where he graduated in 1971 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jerry served honorably in the U.S. Army. He worked for his family business, serving as President of the James J. Smith and Sons Painting and Contracting until his retirement. An avid golfer, Jerry served 8 years on the Board of Great Cove Golf Club, serving two terms as President, while a member. While at Great Cove he won the stroke play club championship twice and the match play championship once. Jerry also joined the Waynesboro Country Club, serving on the Board for four years. Mr. Smith also served on the board of the Associated Builders and Contractors Board. He was also a member of the Mercersburg American Legion, the Greencastle VFW, and a former member of the Greencastle Lions Club.

Surviving is his wife of 41 years, Rosanna Malott, whom he married in 1980; five children, Richard J. Smith (Robin Seville) of Mercersburg PA, Ame Flannery (John) of Chambersburg, PA, Shawn Evans (Natalie) of Atlanta, GA, Shannon Naugle (Jeremy) of Charlotte, NC, and Chad Evans (Kayla Botzon) of Greencastle, PA; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, James G. Smith (Roxanne); cherished family friend, Greta Smith; and cousins, Pam Tetlow of Hagerstown, MD and Clifford Smith of Mercersburg, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Tosten.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to SpiriTrust Lutheran Hospice, 2700 Luther Dr., Chambersburg, PA 17202. Online condolences may be offered at www.zimmermanfh.com.
