Jeffrey L. "Jeff" Berger
Jeffrey L. "Jeff" Berger, age 58 of Karper Rd. Mercersburg, PA died at 11:54 P.M. Thursday, January 17, 2013 in the Hershey Medical Center following a two month illness.
Born May 6, 1954 in Waynesboro, PA he was the son of Bernice B. (Baer) Berger of Waynesboro and the late William E. Berger.
He married Doreen S. (Ensminger) Berger on May 5, 1990. He was currently employed as a truck driver for Fed Ex Freight. Previously, he had worked for the Raytheon Company at Letterkenny Army Depot and at the former Ryder-Pie Trucking Co.
Jeff was a member of the Teamsters Local #992 of Hagerstown. He graduated in 1972 from Greencastle-Antrim High School. He enjoyed golfing, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, hunting, reading and following politics. Jeff was also an avid football fan of Penn State and the New York Giants.
Surviving family in addition to his mother and wife are one son Jeffrey L. Berger Jr., Chambersburg, two daughters Julie A. (husband Brian) Overcash, Greencastle, Ashley M. Berger, Mercersburg, two granddaughters Shaina E. Overcash, Lilah G. Overcash, two brothers William B. (wife Emma) Berger, Waynesboro, Rodney C. (Wife Kim) Berger, Waynesboro, one sister Marcie J. (husband Marty) Zimmerman, Greencastle and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday January 23 at 11:00 A.M. from the Maugansville Bible Brethren Church 17904 Binkley Ave. Maugansville, MD. with Pastor Mike Carey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church''s fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory for Penn State Hershey Pediatric Cancer Research with checks payable to Penn State Dance Marathon, and mailed to the THON Office Att: Finance 210 HUB, University Park, PA 16802 or made online at THON.org.
