Jean Swisher

Doris Jean (Benchoff) Swisher, age 76 of 3528 Buchanan Trail West Greencastle, PA. died unexpectedly at 11:45 A.M. Tuesday October 11, 2011 in the Waynesboro Hospital.

Born August 8, 1935 in Greencastle, Franklin County, PA., she was the daughter of the late Harry "Pete" and Viola (Crist) Benchoff.

Jean was a homemaker and in her earlier years she worked at the former Winsor Shoe Co. and Sylvania Shoe Co. both of Greencastle. She attended Greencastle High School. She enjoyed playing bingo.

She and her husband, Harold Kenneth "Ken" Swisher were married December 24, 1955.

In addition to her husband she is survived by a son Douglas L. Swisher, Chambersburg, four grandchildren and one brother Fred E. Benchoff, Greencastle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Kimberly K. (Swisher) Miller on July 13, 1995 and by four brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Friday October 14 at 2:00 P.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Gayle Ruble Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Beautiful View Cemetery near State Line. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 - 8 P.M.
