Jean Benchoff Smith, age 90 of Conway, South Carolina and formerly of Providence Place Chambersburg and North Port, Florida died Wednesday August 29, 2012 in the home of her daughter in Conway.
Born July 26, 1922 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Guy A. and Elizabeth (Heefner) Benchoff. She married Glenn M. Smith on October 10, 1942. He died on December 12, 2006.
She was a homemaker and in her earlier life worked at the former J.J. Newberrys and the Landis Tool Co. in Waynesboro. Jean was a 1940 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
Jean was a member of Heidelberg Church in Marion, PA. She was a member of several Masonic fraternal organizations including the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving family are two daughters Saundra Stordeur, Wantagh, NY, Glenda Orndorff, Conway, SC, one son Alexis Smith, Fishersville, VA, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 8 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Adam Leeper officiating. Burial will be in the Quincy Cemetery, Quincy, PA. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Alzheimer''s Association 3544 North Progress Ave. Suite 205 Harrisburg, PA 17110.
