Jean M. Dice, age 93, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Greencastle, PA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Menno Haven. Born March 16, 1928, in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Marian Meister Lowry.
Mrs. Dice worked as a homemaker raising her seven children before returning to school in 1981 and completing LPN School at the former Franklin County Vo-Tech School. She was a nurse working as a charge nurse at the former Franklin County Nursing Home and later at Homewood of Williamsport and at Quincy Village for 10 years, prior to retiring in 1991. She was a member of King Street Church, where she served in the Parish Nurse Ministry and was in the New Life Sunday School, Shephard Ministry, Prime Timers, Sunday School Teacher, choir member, and life member and regional officer of WMF. She also served as a 4-H leader and enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with family.
Surviving are six children, Kathleen Stine (husband Lester) of Chambersburg, PA; Laura James of Huntington, IN; Carol Sanders (husband Rick) of Chambersburg, PA; Julie Wynn (husband Timothy) of Wiesbaden, Germany; Alan Dice (wife Cathy) of Forrest Hill, MD; and David Dice (wife Suyapa) of Hedgesville, WV; 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; and two siblings, Terry Reed (husband John) and Larry Lowry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Dice, Sr.; a son, Ralph Dice, Jr.; grandson, Adam Dehoff; and four siblings.
A memorial service will be held at King Street Church, 162 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at 11 AM, where Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the above church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to King Street Church, 56 N. Second St., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the Menno Haven Benevolent Fund, 2011 Scotland Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
