Jean H. (Hamer) Collings

Jean Hamer Collings passed away peacefully at home in Mercersburg, PA on Sunday, December 8, 2013. She was born in New Brunswick New Jersey on September 27,1928 to Chester Hamer and Gladys Hicks Hamer. She had one brother, Jack. Jean graduated from high School in New Brunswick in 1944, and worked as a medical assistant throughout the 1950s. In 1958, she married Arthur M. Collings Jr. of Collingswood, New Jersey, who died in 2010. They had two sons, Arthur III, now of Redhook, New York, who was born in 1959, and David, now of Mercersburg, PA, who was born in 1962. Jean enjoyed cooking, knitting, genealogy, painting, photography and her family. She and her husband Arthur moved to Greencastle, PA in 1997. In addition to her sons, Jean is survived by her four grandchildren, Sean, Sam, Margaret, and Allison, her daughter-in-law, Dawn, and nieces, Nancy and Judy. There will not be any visitation or public services. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.
