Jean L. Bietsch, age 92, formerly of East Queen St. Chambersburg died on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in ManorCare Health Services of Chambersburg.
Born November 11, 1923 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late William H. and E. Maude (Loy) Bietsch.
Jean was a retired school teacher, having taught first and second grade for 35 years in the Chambersburg Area School District.
She graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1941 and received her teaching degree in 1945 from Shippensburg State Teachers College (now Shippensburg University).
Jean was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church of Chambersburg, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Women’s Society. She was a life member of the PSEA and her interests included gardening and crafts.
Surviving family are several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
A graveside service will be held at the Norland Cemetery in Chambersburg on Monday May 9 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Rick Noll officiating. There will be no viewing. The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial contributions be made to the St. Paul United Methodist Church 750 Norland Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201.
