Jaye Ivan Meyers

Jaye Ivan Meyers, 86, a resident of Greencastle, PA and a seasonal resident for the past 23 years of Fort Myers, FL, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023 in Cape Coral, FL. He was born May 14, 1937 in Chambersburg, PA to H. Norman and Edna Meyers, both deceased.

Jaye worked at Meyers Implements, an agricultural tractor and machinery retailer, in Greencastle for 48 years. He purchased the business from its founders in the early 1970s and operated the business until his retirement in 2002.

Jaye was a life-long member and attendee of Antrim Brethren in Christ Church, in Chambersburg, PA. He served two years from 1959-1961 in Rhodesia, modern day Zimbabwe and Zambia, assisting Brethren in Christ Missions and from this experience grew a lifelong love of Africa and its people. Jaye returned to Africa many times throughout his life, organizing groups mostly from the Antrim church to assist in the completion of churches in remote areas of Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Jaye was an avid hunter and fisherman and travelled extensively in Africa, Canada, and the United States. In his later years Jaye loved fishing in the waters near his home in Fort Myers, FL and could be found on sunny days, doing so with several friends that shared his passion. Above all, Jaye was a devoted, committed, and loving husband, father, and grandfather and his family formed the center of his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Meyers of Greencastle, PA; two loving sons, Kevin Meyers and wife Elizabeth Irigoyen-Meyers of Fleming Island, FL, and Kurtis Meyers of Waynesboro, PA; and grandson, Dr. Jed Meyers, of Gainesville, FL; three sisters, Norma Grove and husband, Robert of Greencastle, Judy Lebo of Greencastle, and Debra Stayman and husband, Dale of Chambersburg, PA.

He is predeceased by his brother Mark Meyers and wife Lyndell and by his brother-in-law Leon Lebo.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 10:30 AM in Antrim Brethren in Christ Church, 24 Kauffman Rd. East, Chambersburg, PA 17202, where Pastor Casey Hurst will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the above church. Interment in Brown's Mill Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in memory of Jaye can be made to “Family-to-Family Zimbabwe” in care of Antrim Brethren in Christ Church, 24 Kauffman Road East, Chambersburg, PA 17202, Attn: Hershey Bowers. Jaye cared deeply for Family-to-Family Zimbabwe which assists grandparents who are caring for their orphaned grandchildren by providing food and other necessities.
