Janice (Hess) Stockslager, age 78 of 706 Ryan Lane Greencastle, Pa. died unexpectedly following a short illness at 8:16 A.M. Sunday May 16, 2010 in the Waynesboro Hospital.
Born February 28, 1932 in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Stine P. and Anna (Byers) Hess.
Janice was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Bible Church of Greencastle.
A former long time resident of Grantsville, Md., she was a member of the Garrett County Homemakers. She was a graduate of the Messiah Academy in Grantham, Pa. and enjoyed music, sewing, cooking and caring for her family.
She and her husband, John Vernon Stockslager were married June 2, 1951 in Chambersburg.
Surviving family in addition to her husband are two sons Guy L. and wife Susan Stockslager of Brookneal, VA., Todd R. and wife Vickie Stockslager, Raleigh, NC., one daughter Gale L. Livengood, Dover, Ohio, three brothers Jay R. Hess, Greencastle, Pa., A. Byers Hess, State Line, Pa., Glenn Hess, Lebanon, Pa. and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 20 at 10:00 A.M. from the Calvary Bible Church 3845 Buchanan Trail West Greencastle with Pastor Richard Overcash officiating. Burial will be in the New Guilford Church Cemetery near Chambersburg. The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. and at the church one hour before the service on Thursday.
