Janet M. (Shelly) Eckstine, age 87 a resident of the Shook Home of Chambersburg, Pa. since October 2004 and formerly of 144 Addison Ave. Greencastle, Pa. died at 1:47 A.M. Sunday November 11, 2007 in the Shook Home.

Born January 18, 1920 in Upton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Aaron B. and May (Meckley) Shelly.
She and her husband, Roger C. Eckstine were married June 3, 1939. He died on February 22, 1998.

Mrs. Eckstine was a homemaker and helped her late husband on the family farm. She also worked at Corning Glass of Greencastle for 25 years. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle where she was a member of the Womens Bible Class. She also served as a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the WELCA (Lutheran Church Women).

She helped with the meals that were served by the Kauffman Ruritan Club and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving family are:
Two sons Charles R. (Husband of Sue) Eckstine and Gerald W. (Husband of Janet) Eckstine, both of Greencastle, Pa.

One sister, Margaret Evans of Greencastle, Pa.

Three Brothers, Ray Shelly of Hagerstown, Md., Ralph Shelly of Chambersburg, Pa. and Charles Owen Shelly of Florida.

Five grandchildren and Five great-grandchildren

Numerous nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by: an infant daughter Doris Jean Eckstine and an infant son Dennis Shelly Eckstine, four brothers, Glenn Shelly, Fred Shelly, Carl Shelly and Robert Shelly and one sister Ruth Shank.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 17 at 11:00 A.M. from the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 North Washington St. Greencastle, Pa. with Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle on Friday evening from 6- 8 P.M. and at the church one hour before the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Memorial Fund of Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 North Washington St. Greencastle, Pa. 17225 or to the Hospice Of The Good Shepherd 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, Pa. 17202.
