James R. "Juni" Nichols Sr., age 84 of 4231 Marsh Rd. Waynesboro, PA. died at 5:17 A.M. Sunday, October 23, 2011 in the Waynesboro Hospital.
Born February 1, 1927 in Hagerstown, MD., he was the son of the late James Franklin and Lottie May (Dotson) Nichols.
He had worked at the former Fairchild Co. and retired from Pangborn Co., both of Hagerstown.
He and his wife, Ruth H. (Burkett) Nichols were married November 29, 1947 and would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary next month. Jim was an avid hunter and trapper his entire life and was a former member of the Greencastle Sportsman Association. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving family in addition to his wife are one son James R. Nichols Jr., Waynesboro, PA., step-granddaughter, Valerie Wiser, Walnut Bottom, PA., step-grandson, Jerry M. Provard, Williamson, PA. and five step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Jesse James Nichols, two sisters Virginia Pearl Tritch and Mary Madeline Doeppe.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 26 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. James Sollenberger officiating. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery Hagerstown. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanfh.com
