Jacob Melvin Monninger Jr., age 57, of Greencastle, PA died Tuesday afternoon December 30, 2014 in the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
Born April 20, 1957 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of Pauline (Rowe) Monninger of Greencastle and the late Jacob M. Monninger Sr. He married Donna J. (Carr) Monninger on November 26, 1980.
He was self-employed having owned R& J Home Improvement. He had previously worked for Waynesboro Construction for a number of years.
Jacob attended the Chambersburg First Church Of God. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, bowling and NASCAR racing.
Surviving family in addition to his wife are three daughters, Shawna D. Haga and Amanda S. Monninger, both of Greencastle, Heather J. Monninger of Martinsburg, WV, seven grandchildren; two brothers, Gary Monninger of Dry Run, PA and Charlie Monninger of Greencastle.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a daughter April Monninger on March 19, 2014 and a brother John Monninger.
A memorial service will be held on Monday January 5 at 11:00 AM at Chambersburg First Church Of God 2230 Grand Point Rd. Chambersburg with Pastor Kevin Elworth officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Chambersburg First Church Of God 2230 Grand Point Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.
