Jack Shawn Layman, age 39 of Hagerstown, MD died early Thursday morning, January 30, 2014 in his home following an illness of a year.
Born July 28, 1974 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of Christine M. (Jakoby) Layman of Greencastle and the late Jack R. Layman. He married Rebecca A. (Feigley) Layman on September 6, 2003 in Hagerstown.
Jack worked as a certified automotive technician for nearly 20 years at Hoffman Automotive in Hagerstown. He attended the Downsville Christian Church and in his younger years attended the St. Mark Catholic Church of Greencastle. He was a member of the Hagerstown Moose Lodge, Greencastle V.F.W. and American Legion.
Jack was a 1993 graduate Of Greencastle-Antrim High School and received automotive training at Franklin County Vo- Tech. He enjoyed working on cars and going to car shows.
Surviving family in addition to his mother and wife are two daughters Kayla Marie Layman and Jacklyn Reigh Layman, both at home, two brothers, Jeremy S. Layman and Jamie S. Layman, both of Greencastle and paternal grandmother Mary Jane Scott of Frederick, MD.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday February 5 at 7:00 PM from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Craig Jones officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given for his daughters in care of Rebecca Ann Layman at Susquehanna Bank 40 Center Square P.O. Box 8 Greencastle, PA 17225.
