Jack E. Quigley, age 71, of Greencastle, PA and formerly of Mechanicsburg, PA, died at 7:55 P.M. on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in the Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, PA.
Born, September 1, 1937 in Mechanicsburg, PA he was the son of the late Ellsworth D. and Wilma A. (Reed) Quigley.
He and his wife, Ethel I. (Walters) Quigley were married December 24, 1960 in Mechanicsburg.
Mr. Quigley was a manager at the former Bearings Inc. for over 35 years in Baltimore, MD, Hagerstown, MD, York, PA and Greencastle, PA where he was awarded manager of the year. He also worked at Automotive Supply in Harrisburg, PA. He was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and served in the Army National Guard.
He was a member of the Greencastle Presbyterian Church where he served on session board, as a deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher. His passion was coaching and was a coach of youth baseball and football for 32 years in the Mechanicsburg and Greencastle areas. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and NASCAR. He was a former member of the Greencastle Lions Club.
Surviving family in addition to his wife of 48 years are, two sons, Brian S. Quigley M.D. of Raleigh, NC and Brad A. Quigley of Greencastle, PA; one sister, Shirley Houck of Mechanicsburg, PA; three grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Ellsworth David Quigley Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 11 A.M. from the Greencastle Presbyterian Church, 57 W. Baltimore St., Greencastle, PA with Pastors Richard Overcash and Taylor Camerer officiating. Burial will be in the Browns Mill Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 9 to 11 A.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 384 Floral Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Ave. Bob Hope Rd., Miami, FL 33136-1494.
