Jack R. Layman, age 53 of 222 East Franklin St. Greencastle, Pa. died at 1:50 A.M. Wednesday February 18, 2009 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born December 31, 1955 in McKeesport, Pa., he was the step-son of the late Henry M. Scott and son of Mary Jane (Gary) Scott of State Line, Pa. and the late William Layman.
He was formerly employed as a machinist with Grove Worldwide, Frick Co. and D.L. Martin and was employed last at Mack Trucks of Hagerstown.
Jack was a social member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 and the Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post #373, both of Greencastle.
He was a 1974 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School. Jack enjoyed riding his motorcycle, watching NASCAR races, bowling, shooting pool, deep sea fishing and going to car shows at Ocean City, Md.
He and his wife, Christine M. (Jakoby) Layman were married February 9, 1974.

Three sons, Jack S. Layman, Hagerstown, Md., Jeremy S. Layman, Philadelphia, Pa. and Jamie S. Layman, Greencastle, Pa.
One granddaughter, Kayla Marie Lehman, Hagerstown, Md.
Two sisters, Barb Jessup, Export, Pa. and Melissa Hipkins, Frederick, Md.
One brother, Lee Bayer, Pittsburgh, Pa.

In addition to his step-father and father, he was preceded in death by a brother Larry Bayer.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 21 at 2:00 P.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Craig Jones officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Saturday. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be given in his memory to the Television Project at John L. and Cora I.
