J. Vernon Trumpower

J. Vernon Trumpower, age 80 of Maugansville, MD went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning January 7, 2015 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born August 23, 1934 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late William and Sally (Hott) Trumpower. He married Arlene J. Trumpower in August 1957.
Vernon worked for the former M.P. Moller Pipe Organ Co., the Duvinage Stair Co. of Hagerstown and last at Jerr- Dan Co., where he retired from.

He founded the gospel singing group The Beacons and was the lead singer for 25 years traveling all over the Tri-State area. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Waynesboro and was a member of the Alpha and Omega Sunday School Class. Vernon was a1952 graduate of Williamsport High School.

Surviving family in addition to his wife of 57 years are one son Curtis L. Trumpower and wife Michelle of Maugansville, two grandchildren, Miles and Shelly Trumpower; four brothers, Raymond Trumpower of Greencastle, Ted and Greg Trumpower of Marlowe, WV and Randy Trumpower of Murfreesboro, TN.

He was preceded in death by a brother Wayne Trumpower and a sister Kay Palmer.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10 at 2:00 PM from the Grace Baptist Church
623 North Grant Street Extended Waynesboro, PA with Pastor John Scahill officiating. Burial will be in the Broadfording Church Cemetery in Hagerstown. There will be a visitation at the church on Saturday for family and friends from 12:30 – 2:00 PM. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.
