Iva Jean (Souders) Hornbaker, age 74 a resident of the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Chambersburg and formerly of Mercersburg died at 11:05 A.M. Tuesday November 24, 2009 in the nursing home.
Born February 18, 1935 in Huntingdon County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Otho M. and Sarah Elizabeth (Snyder) Souders.
In her earlier years she was a candy maker and later worked in a department store. She was a member of the Clayton Memorial Church Of God of Mercersburg.
Iva Jean was a graduate of James Buchanan High School and attended the Hagerstown Business School. She bowled in the former Mercersburg Bowling League.
Surviving family are sons, Kenny Hornbaker, Hagerstown, Md., Michael Newsome, State Line, Pa., sisters Erma Wible, Orbisonia, Pa., Mary A. Smith, Parksley, Virginia., Mabel Black, Fitzgerald, Georgia, Charlotte E. Schooley, Greencastle, Pa., one grandson, Trent Hornbaker, one step-grandson, Jaime Cordell and former husband Eugene Hornbaker, State Line, Pa.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 28 at 10:00 A.M. from the Clayton Memorial Church Of God 6701 Charlestown Rd. Mercersburg with Pastor Karen Ford officiating. Burial will be in the Meyers Cemetery near Welsh Run. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service on Saturday. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M.
