Irene E. (Hartman) Davis, age 87 of 9 A Edward Dr. Greencastle died at 2:38 A.M. Sunday, June 13, 2010 in ManorCare Health Services of Chambersburg where she had been a resident for the past several weeks.
Born September 21, 1922 in Antrim Twp. Franklin Co. Pa.. she was the daughter of the late Harry Benjamin and Florence (Stickel) Hartman. Irene was employed at the former Stanley Co. Chambersburg.
She attended the Calvary Bible Church of Greencastle and was a former member of the Hollowell Brethren In Christ Church near Waynesboro. She enjoyed gardening, canning and being with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene attended the Browns Mill School.
She and her husband, Richard T. "Dick" Davis were married December 18, 1943. He died on August 16, 1999.
Surviving family are one daughter Darlene S. (Wife of Daniel) Reynolds, Greencastle, one son Gary R. (Husband of Linda) Davis, Greencastle, three brothers, Harry Hartman, Winchester, Va., Frank Hartman, Dayton, Md., Herman Hartman, Berkeley Springs, W.VA., sister Mildred H. Coulson, Double Oak, Texas, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Harold Hartman.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. from the Calvary Bible Church, 3845 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle with Pastor Richard Overcash officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Missions Fund of Calvary Bible Church, 3845 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle, PA. 17225.
