Hylda Everts

Hylda A. (Sipes) Everts, age 88 of 3303 Sportsman Rd. Greencastle, Pa. died early Sunday morning June 8, 2008 in her home. She had been in declining health for the past year.

Born January 12, 1920 in Cove Gap, Pa. she was the daughter of the late Ernest L. and Esther (Kuhn) Sipes.

She was a homemaker and had worked at the former Waynesboro Knitting Mill and last worked at the former Ross Garment Co. of Hagerstown.
Mrs. Everts was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle. She played the bass fiddle with her husbands music group the Hilltop Harmonizers.

She enjoyed crocheting. sewing and being a homemaker.

She and her husband, Merle G. Everts were married December 25, 1937 in Greencastle. He died on November 10, 2006.

Surviving family are:

Three daughters, L. Faye Mentzer, Linda M. Murray and Juanita K. Everts, all of Greencastle, Pa.

One sister, Lou Sipes Ramsey, McConnellsburg, Pa.

Two Brothers, Clarence J. Sipes, Olive Branch, Mississippi and Ralph E. Sipes, Lemasters, Pa.

Five grandchildren, Ten great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by two brothers Ralph L. Sipes and Lawrence Sipes and four sisters Melva Hillis, Hazel Kelchner, Beulah Jones and Mabel Jones.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 11 at 10:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, Pa. with Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in McConnellsburg, Pa. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Memorial Fund of the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 N. Washington St. Greencastle, Pa. 17225.
