Herman Gingerich, age 91 of Pensinger Road Greencastle died at 5:30 PM Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in his home.
Born March 26, 1923 in Loogootee, Indiana, he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth (Wagler) Gingerich. He married Mary Helen (Spangler) Gingerich on August 28, 1946 in Greencastle.
Herman was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Shanks Church Of The Brethren near Greencastle. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed exercising for his health.
Surviving family are four daughters Judy C. Bucher and husband David of Eyota, MN, Darlene F. Fisher and husband Jay of Orrstown, PA, Betty Lou Walter and husband Durand of Greencastle, Elizabeth R. Spidel of Waynesboro; two sons, Richard E. Gingerich and wife Lois of Greencastle, Jeffrey L. Gingerich and wife Phyllis of Harrisonville, PA, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Gingerich and William Gingerich and one sister Lydia Kauffman.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Monday December 1 at 11:00 AM from the Shanks Church Of The Brethren on Shanks Church Rd. Greencastle with Ministers John Shelly and David Stahl officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his name to the Shanks Church Of The Brethren 7535 Talhelm Rd. Chambersburg, PA 17202. Arrangements were made by the Harold M.
