Henry L. "Hank" Lininger, age 84 of 1750 McDowell Rd. Greencastle, PA. and formerly of Polktown Rd. Waynesboro, PA. died at 5:00 A.M. Saturday December 25, 2010 in the home of his daughter and son-in-law Tina and Roger Bitner.

Born March 21,1926 in Smithfield, PA. he was the son of the late Roy L. and Elsie (Jack) Lininger.

He retired after 24 years of service in the U.S. Army. Henry was a veteran of World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam War. Following his retirement he worked as a school custodian at Hooverville School in Waynesboro.

Henry was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church of Waynesboro, member of the Waynesboro American Legion Post #15 and a member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 of Greencastle. He was an avid bowler.

His wife Helen M. (Saluga) Lininger died December 28, 1990.

Surviving family are two daughters Patricia A. Zentmyer, Waynesboro, Helen M. "Tina" Bitner, Greencastle, two sons, Michael H. Lininger, Mississippi, Robert S. Lininger, Waynesboro, 10 Grandchildren 15 Great-Grandchildren, sisters, Betsy Board, Uniontown, PA., Ruth Darvin, Waynesburg, PA., Virginia Murphy, Virginia, brothers Frank Lininger and James Lininger, both of Uniontown, Pa.

He was preceded in death by brothers John, Bud, Clarence and Harold Lininger and a sister Pat Lininger.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday morning December 30 at 10:00 A.M. from the St. Andrew Catholic Church Waynesboro, PA. with Father John Bateman officiating. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg with military graveside honors provided by the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle where a prayer service will be recited at 7:30 P.M. Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Lutheran Home Care And Hospice 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanfh.com
