Helen L. (Talhelm) Statler
Helen Louise (Talhelm) Statler, age 93 a resident of Menno Haven of Chambersburg and formerly of Largo, Florida and Chambersburg died at 9:40 A.M. Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Menno Haven.
Born July 15, 1921 in Clay Hill, Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Roy J. and Leah Gail (Ryder) Talhelm. Her husband Glen W. Statler, U.S.A.F. Retired died December 28, 1992.
Helen was a 1939 graduate of Greencastle High School and was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle. She was a homemaker and in her early life she had worked at the former Stanley Co. of Chambersburg.
Surviving family are one sister Marie Myers of Greencastle, one brother Wayne T. Talhelm and wife Shirley of Greencastle and a number nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers Paul G. Talhelm and Chester R. “Chet” Talhelm, two sisters Janet E. Talhelm and infant Dorothy Jean Talhelm.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 25 at 2:00 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 North Washington St. Greencastle, PA 17225.
