Helen E. (Izer) Myers, age 93 a resident of Providence Place in Chambersburg and formerly of South Washington St. Greencastle died at 2:50 P.M. Saturday September 26 , 2009 in Providence Place.
Born October 18, 1915 in Greencastle, Pa. she was the daughter of the late Benjamin G. and Nora Belle (Swisher) Izer.
Helen was a homemaker and a member of the Grace United Church Of Christ of Greencastle. She was a member of the Greencastle Loyal Daughters and had attended Greencastle-Antrim Schools.
She and her husband, W. Dale Myers were married April 20, 1935 in Hagerstown. He died on May 27, 2003. Helen was a devoted wife, caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and dearly loved her family. She enjoyed going to antique shows.
Surviving family are one daughter D. Ann Ebersole and husband Richard of WIlliamsport, Md., one son D. Richard Myers and wife Carolyn of Greencastle, two sisters, Isabelle V. Miller, Providence Place, Chambersburg, D. Jean Leckron, State Line, Pa., one brother, H. Maxwell Izer, resident of Broadmore Assisted Living Center, Hagerstown, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four great-great- grandchildren and number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother Charles Izer, brothers G. Robert Izer, Lauren Izer and Ambrose Izer.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 1 at 2:00 P.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Chaplain Ronald Milley and Rev. Charles Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M.
